The 2010 edition of the RICS Schedule of Basic Plant Charges* comes into effect from 1st July 2010. From that date it will be the appropriate Schedule to refer to when reference is made to the 'latest edition' in contract documents.
The new edition will be available from BCIS and is the first revision since 2001.
The Schedule is intended to provide a basis for incorporating plant used in dayworks into the tendering procedure in accordance with the 'Definition of Prime Cost of Dayworks carried out under a Building Contract'. The rates apply solely to dayworks carried out under or incidental to a building contract, and to plant and machinery already on site and not hired by the Contractor.
The new Schedule has been expanded and updated and includes rates for 490 items of plant covering the following sections:
- Pumps
- Concrete Equipment
- Scaffolding, Shoring, Fencing
- Testing Equipment
- Lighting Appliances and Conveyors
- Site Accommodation
- Construction Vehicles
- Temporary Services
- Excavators and Loaders
- Site Equipment
- Compaction Equipment
